Start Types of Scans

Resources can be scanned in the following ways:

Start Offline Scanning#

By default, when resources are added to an application, those resources are scanned. Also, you can manually scan the resource by clicking the Rescan checkbox.

To start offline scanning:

  1. On the Privacera home page, on the left, expand the Discovery menu and click Data Source.

  2. Select Hadoop-HDFS or any other resource. Ensure that the application is enabled.

  3. Under Include Resource tab, check the Rescan checkbox of the resource to be scanned.

The Info and Success dialog message is displayed.

  4. You can view scan results under Classification.

Start Realtime Scanning#

Realtime scanning is persistent and ongoing. Each time a file is received, realtime scanning examines the file. By default, whenever you add a new file in the Include Resource tab, realtime scanning executes.

To scan the resource in realtime, the application should be enabled and resource should be added to the Include Resource tab in the application. For example, to copy a file from the cluster to HDFS, use the following command:

hdfs dfs -put -f <local-src> … <HDFS_dest_path>

View Classification Results#

You can view scanned results in Classification.
